Salty air hovering low and hugging our hips and hands as we pelt out over the hot sand until we hit the water, waves splashing our bodies and seawater spraying our faces with the force of the impact as we launch ourselves into the incoming tide.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eColourful beach toys go cruising about the beach, pushed and towed and then abandoned by tireder waves as my children screech with joy and I sigh with relief in the warm-but-still-cooler-than-the-atmosphere water. Frayed tempers are forgotten and everyone is frivolously fixated on sea treasures we find in the sand and stopped short by the sudden feeling of being fancy free.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eWe leave all our bickering when we head for the beach. We are no longer agitated, stressed, longing for the next. We allow ourselves to be towed out into the now. The expanse of now where nothing is more important than the immediate pursuit of presence.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eAnd as we build sandcastles and the waves continue to slap over our ankles and the beach butterflies dance around us in a sudden samba of yellow and blue flashes against the overcast sky, a solo stormbird sings from the shore and I sink further into the sand, in gratitude and in an attempt to become part of this seascape. Her second boy was starting in the same class as my eldest. She too had 3 boys.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA few days later she smiled at me and said something heartwarming once more and I just looked at her, bewildered, and asked why she was so kind to me?\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eMothers of 3 boys, she said. Her second boy was starting in the same class as my eldest. She too had 3 boys.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA few days later she smiled at me and said something heartwarming once more and I just looked at her, bewildered, and asked why she was so kind to me?\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eMothers of 3 boys, she said. Ghost crabs march determinedly towards destinations we can’t discern until our dog romps gleefully through their ranks, sending them scurrying in search of safety like little white waves, their translucent bodies forming and reforming gleaming mirages of water that disappear just as fast as they reform in regiments and march on. We search the beach for treasures as the sun rises over the water and by 5:45 it is well and truly bright and the children pad home a little more slowly for breakfast with hands full of twigs, leaves and shells and feet, hair and sometimes swimmers full of sand.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003e\u003cspan class=\"s1\"\u003eWhen we said we wanted to live close to sea, so many people said we were wrong to expose our albino children to so much sun.
