The Devine Guide to...Autumn Art
My favourite book as a child was called 'Green Bear' by Alan Rogers.
The story follows a bear who repaints his entire house to match the colour of the season. So, in Autumn, the forest he lives in turns orange, so Green Bear paints his house orange.
A bit extreme, but there you go.
In Australia, our seasonal shift isn't quite so pronounced - we have a distinct lack of the deciduous trees so synonymous with 'Fall' in the Northern Hemisphere. Yet, our Autumn is nonetheless marked by golden light-filled afternoons and crisp dawns and twilights.
Unlike Green bear, I'm not recommending we all go out and repaint our entire homes though when a thoughtful look at the art on display will suffice.
This Autumn in Australia we are seeing a departure from the russet tones usually coveted by major fashion houses. Instead, warm orange and peach tones, subdued greens, lilacs and clay tones dominate. These dusky colours seem like the perfect combination to me to make your home feel cozy whilst still inviting light and warmth into your space as the days shorten.
For a true 'Fall' vibe you can't go past the changing leaves in our Adelaide print. All the Lovers has those rose and warm ochre tones that are always warming. Whilst Eden and Mother bring the Autumn landscape in.
For the boho lovers of neutral enteriors - the golden light in our Delys print is a must-have.
With all our prints fitting easily and quickly into standard frames, it is a quick job to change out your prints to suit the season if you wish to. Or maybe you prefer moving your art around the house at this time of year so that each print or artwork catches the changing light in a new way?
