Wedding Bouquet Commissions
Have you recently wed the love of your life? Are you about to get married? Are you looking for the perfect anniversary gift for your wife-who-seems-to-have-everything? (The traditional gift for the first year is paper – I’m pretty sure canvas still counts!) Are you happily married and wish, looking back, that you had kept your bouquet instead of throwing it over your shoulder for the next bride to catch? Have you perhaps done your research on bouquet preservation and discovered the price is more than your wedding budget allows?
I started painting wedding bouquets out of a more-than-faint regret that I didn’t get my own bouquet dried to keep as an original art piece. Prior to our wedding day, I was quoted $850 to preserve the blooms without including the framing…and that was just one expense too many for us at the time.
The really wonderful thing about having your bouquet painted is that it can be done any time after the wedding – even decades later. A truly lovely, unique and personal reminder of your special day.
What do I need to provide?
2-3 reference photos of your flowers.
How long will it take before my original is in my hot little hands?
I take a limited number of commissions a year so that I’m not pressed for time and it is usually a 3-4 week turn around for canvases under 24x18inches (my favourite size – but you can pick just about whatever size you like.) Larger works will take more time. I promise it will be worth the wait.
What will my investment be?
All commission fees include postage anywhere in Oz. Want to pick it up? No worries – we can work it out.
A 50% deposit is required to begin work on your New Devine Original. Final payment is due upon your receipt of final photos of the artwork, prior to your New Devine being posted to you.
Wedding bouquet commissions start at $350 for a 12inx12in, stretched, premium canvas original. Anything smaller means that precious details are lost. Many people choose a 16inx24in canvas (around $650) or a 24inx24in square (around $980).
I usually use deep edge canvases. Your New Devine will come ready to hang, varnished to protect it from dust and won't require framing.
What if I want to frame my New Devine?
I’m happy to work on thin edge stretched canvas if you are going to be framing your bouquet painting under glass and therefore taking it off the stretcher frame. Deep edge canvases can be framed without glass in certain frames. For a small additional fee, I can arrange exceptional quality framing with Picture Framing on Discovery. This fee only covers the framing work - framing consultation fees are complimentary for wedding bouquet originals. This is a great solution if you aren't very familiar with custom framing or if you just want to ensure an art-gallery-worthy result.
