Inspired by my new favourite gingham Moolk skirt and a bunch of flowers I ordered for a friend to celebrate 15 years of friendship.

Now I’m Found is one of those rare pieces where everything felt right. After two months away at our family farm, I got back to the studio and couldn’t work out what to paint first - the ideas swirling around my head were so very vibrant - like the colours of the Irish summer in the fields of the farm. A few months of learning to drive a tractor, working until my hands were raw and cooking for a merry collection of farmers every night felt very much like I’d found a part of me that was absent for the last few years. Amidst the stress and worry of our life with two blind boys and Seamus’s health and the pressure of running a business, i’d left behind the ‘blast music and sing at the top of my lungs’ me, the ‘dance in the kitchen’ me, the ‘cook beautiful desserts’ me, the ‘wear the same farm clothes every day and not care’ me, the me that enjoyed the small things more…the ‘more present in the now’ me. Perhaps I left her in Ireland 3 years ago and it’s only now that I’ve rediscovered her and thought to bring her home. Now I’m found.

I wonder if mine was not an isolated experience and if we all in fact feel a little more free, wild, reunited with ourselves after the last 3 years of…unusualness.
